Postcard-perfect mid-century modern
As a follow-up to yesterday’s post about the creation of Kevin Roche’s leaf rug for the Millers, today we have two photographs of the rug in the Living Room. Of the many custom rugs found throughout the Miller House, the leaf rug designed by Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo & Associates was the most intricate to design and fabricate.
The overall effect of the rug in situ with the conversation pit, Eames sofa, and Mrs. Miller’s paperweight collection is nothing short of postcard-perfect mid-century modern interior design.
Color transparencies of the Living Room leaf rug by Kevin Roche, 1992, Box 27, Folder 314, Miller House and Garden Collection, IMA Archives, Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis, IN.

Naturally Dyed Collection # 1

My first collection of naturally dyed linens is now available from my online shop.
Dyed with madder, weld, woad and other organic plant dyes, they have a lovely luminosity, unique to natural pigmentation. There’s Large Linens and Medium Linens that can be used as a tablecloths, throws, or beach/picnic blankets. Small Linens that can be used as napkins or placemats. Cushions in three sizes, dyed or printed with a two tone texture. Aprons in knee or calf lengths, and an Oversized Tote bag.
Each linen is made to order, sewn and hand dyed in my studio. Made using Oeko-Tex certified linen and organic plant dyes grown in the south of France.
